In November 2006 I had the good fortune to attend a seminar in Melbourne and the special guest speaker was Kurek Ashley. Kurek was inspirational in many ways however the defining moment for me came when he was discussing weight loss and asked for a volunteer from the audience.
I was fortunate enough to be the chosen one and was asked onto the stage. Kurek asked me how much weight I wanted to lose, I said “10 kilos would be a good start”. He asked how long I had been trying to lose the weight and I said “10 years”. Kurek proceeded to talk about goal-setting and provided all attendees with a step by step plan.
Between November 2006 and the 1st March 2007 I dropped 8.4 kilos to be less than 100 kilos for the first time in 18 years.
